Rob Hill is a geometric abstract painter born in Los Angeles, CA and based in Denver, CO, shaped by the rhythmic energy of 1990s LA and eight years of service in the U.S. Coast Guard. These two worlds, vibrant and structured, live together in everything I make.
Using a meticulous masking technique, I build sharp triangular geometries that invite viewers to think in layers, holding reason, grace, and understanding in the same moment. My palette draws from 90s Black television and the traditional textiles of African, Latin, and Native American cultures, a homage to the global diaspora applied across canvas, metal, and reclaimed surfaces.
My work bridges cultures, challenges monolithic narratives around Black identity, and finds order in chaos and is intended to inspire, brighten, and provoke deeper thought.
